Play Therapy

Research has shown that one of the primary ways children organize, understand, and interact with their world is through play. Play therapy is a well established treatment modality with over 100 years of research demonstrating its effectiveness in addressing a wide range of childhood difficulties and challenges.  As a cognitive/behavioral play therapist I primarily use play as a way to identify behaviors or beliefs your child may have that are interfering with their ability to experience a happy and peaceful childhood. Therapist guided play is a medium through which your child can both process their feelings and develop tools to address current and future difficulties. Through play it is possible to help your son or daughter recognize and access the strengths, talents, and abilities they need to successfully meet life's challenges.  Research has also demonstrated that play therapy is most likely to be effective when combined with active parental involvement, and it is likely that I will want to meet with you on a regular basis to discuss your child's progress.  Please feel free to ask any questions you may have about play therapy during our initial phone conversation.  I look forward to meeting and working with you and your child.
